CBS has pulled the plug on summer drama Extant with Halle Berry after a second season of decreasing ratings. Earlier, they announced that Stephen King's Uncer the Dome would not be back, but Zoo has been renewed for a second season. In other summer news, FX Network has renewed one of my favorites, Tyrant for a third season.
As far as the fall season is concerned, we're nearly three weeks in without an official cancellation, "on hiatus," "stopped production," or otherwise yanking a show from the schedule. This must be some type of modern day record.

AMC has also announced that Halt and Catch Fire the 80s drama that focuses on the start of the PC boom and Internet era has been renewed for a third season. At the end of season two, most of the main characters had left Texas, where they came from, and moved to Silicon Valley, which sets up a lot of interesting possibilities for Season 3.

Re: Extant is Extinct
It was obvious Extant wasn't going to do another season given how the finale ended. Sure, they left a small cliffhanger with the super-computer taking the form of a man, but the main issues of the series were resolved with the humanics being deactivated and the alien hybrids being accepted by society.
