Multiple Casualties After Shooting at Umpqua Community College

Multiple people were killed in a shooting at an Oregon community college on Thursday, fire officials said.

The shooter at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg was "down," a Douglas County fire official confirmed to NBC News.

At least one female was shot in the chest at the college, the official said, and at least two other people were injured. The total number of people killed and injured was not immediately clear.
Are we really going to do nothing to prevent more incidents like this?

We could declare the campuses "Gun Free Zones". Oh, wait.....

Yeah, right. That's where I'd go to shoot as many as I could.

It starts with reporting whackos who think about how they would pull off such acts...

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Great article. I also agree with these quotes, which echo what I've said after atrocities like this:
Oregon gunman wrote:Seems the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight.
Michael Daly wrote:Forget the zero and remember the hero.

Another Army hero, Alek Skarlatos, also lives in Roseburg and attends Umpqua Community College. If Alek and Chris had both been there on Thursday, the gunman wouldn't have stood a chance.

Alek got the Légion d'honneur, and Chris deserves a medal too. If you agree, please sign this petition:

I read that not only does he attend the school, but he also has a class in one of the buildings where the shootings occurred. Had he not been in L.A. taping DWtS, he probably would have been there when this happened. That brought out the conspiracy nuts, believing this was more than coincidence.

Being the guy that he is, he left L.A. immediately upon hearing the news and went home to help wherever he could.
