The Muppets

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Tue Sep 22, 2015 8:02 pm

The new show debuted tonight. It's a takeoff on shows like The Office, as we're taken behind the scenes at Miss Piggy's late night talk show. Of course the gang's all there with various jobs. But Kermit and Piggy are no longer a couple. This inspires some pretty funny bitter quotes from Kermit when he speaks to the cameras as they do in all those reality tv shows.

It's really an adult-oriented show...the satire will not register with kids and the humor is largely way beyond their years, even risque at times, although everything is worded so that it flies over their heads. That being said, I laughed. A lot. Not sure how it'll do in the ratings, as adlults might not watch, thinking it's a kids' show, and kids just won't get it.

But I liked it very much.

Favorite line was Fozzie talking about the personal ad he placed: "Passionate bear looking for love. That got a lot of wrong responses". Also liked Kermit's confession regarding his new, younger porcine girlfriend: "I guess I'm just attracted to pigs". The running gag involving Tom Bergeron's booking on the talk show and Fozzie meeting his human girlfriend's parents were funny bits as well.[/spoiler]

I loved the new show, so ya'll know what that means: It'll get canceled by the end of the season.

I saw some of the previews and wasn't sure how much I'd like it (I'm spoiled by "The Muppet Show"). But after watching the premiere episode I've decided it's pretty good. My favorite line: "My life is a bacon-wrapped hell on earth."
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."

Did Kyra Sedgwick say that?

The pilot is scheduled to repeat here on Friday at 8:31 and Sunday at 7:00. If interested, check your local listings for ABC.
