Major Peeve

#1 Post by ghostjmf » Wed Sep 02, 2015 9:15 pm

And I was gonna wait 'til I was at a real keyboard. I need to buy the Logitech (or something like that) with actual finger-cupping keys. That Bluetooth connects to a tablet. Staples has it but won't demo it; you're supposed to buy it on faith. They actually sent me to Microcenter (a local competitor) if I want a demo. I guess Staples' price is lower enough they're secure in doing that.

But anyway:

People who thank themselves, very snidely, & loudly, generally by saying "you're welcome", because you didn't thank them fast enough. Maybe you were actually going to. Maybe not, as they did nothing to be thanked for. Same goes for snide loud "you're excused" type remarks when you didn't say "excuse me". Believe me, if I am coming anywhere near really bumping into you, *I* will be saying "excuse me".

Gonna call one of these jerks out in public. Sooner or later.

I have that same peeve. A few weeks ago, I entered a store just as someone else was coming out. I waited for her to come out, and she kept her hand on the door as she exited. As I walked in, she said, very loudly "You're welcome!".

What was I supposed to say? Sorry I didn't thank you for the stupendous effort you put forth? Thank you for allowing me to wait for you to exit?

What are some good comebacks for this sort of rudeness?

"I know! Isn't is great?"

"No, I'm American."

"I'd rather have the cash."

"Really? Then why the rudeness?"
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.
