Bridge report
Partner and I both made a bunch of mistakes yesterday but we still managed to squeak into the overalls of the regional pair game we played yesterday. Different partner today and my first national event of the tournament. Gotta play better or we won't make it to the second day. --Bob

Re: Bridge report
We had a very nice first session today. It was one of those rounds where everyone chose our table to have their disaster. Our 61% game was good enough for first across four sections, virtually doubling my lifetime total of platinum points. We fell off in the evening session, scoring a hair below average, but still qualified very comfortably. So for the first time in my life, I'm gonna get to play the last day of an open national event.
Wish us luck (preferably the good variety)! --Bob

Re: Bridge report
Finished the first final session a little above average for a section scratch, but a little below average in the evening to finish about half a board out of the overall awards. Not a bad showing for my first time in the last day of an open national event, but I did hope for better after our fast start Wednesday.
Today I'm playing the first day of the three-day Open Swiss Teams. We're sitting a fraction of a victory point below average at the break with half the field qualifying for the second day, so we need to pick up the pace a bit. --Bob

Re: Bridge report
We were sitting quite comfortably with two rounds to go, and even after losing our penultimate match, we still only needed no worse than a moderate loss. Unfortunately, we were blown out so we're out of the event and I've collected my last platinum points for the tournament. We'll try a regionally rated knockout teams event today and (we hope) tomorrow. If we don't get past the first two rounds, we join the throng in the last-day Swiss. --BobBob78164 wrote:Finished the first final session a little above average for a section scratch, but a little below average in the evening to finish about half a board out of the overall awards. Didn't play very well yesterday. Managed to reach the low overalls in Stratum X today. All in all, a little under 30 points for the tournament. I'll confess I'd hoped for better but tomorrow is another day. --Bob
