Richard Schweiker, the former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania and Secretary of Health and Human Services, died Friday at age 89.
Mr. Schweiker served in the House of Representatives from 1961 to 1968 and the Senate from 1969 to 1980. In 1976, Ronald Reagan picked him to be his running mate, but then lost the Republican nomination. He was Secretary of Health and Human Services from 1981 to 1983.
