Hulk Hogan Gets Body Slammed

Not only is this one juicy, but it relates directly to my job.

The WWE has severed all ties with Hulk Hogan following the National Enquirer revealing him engaging in a racist rant on a sex tape. Apparently, there's enough verification of the contents of the sex tape for reputable news outlets like the USA Today and the LA Times to run with it. The WWE has removed all mention of Hogan from their website, including his listing in their Hall of Fame and his merchandise is gone from the site as well.

I've posted both the LA Times Article and the Enquirer one (which contains minimally censored versions of Hogan's comments, including F-bombs and the N-word). The gist of the conversation is that Hogan was upset that his daughter had been sleeping with a black man. Hogan is quoted as admitting he's a racist and saying, "I guess we're all a little racist." Hogan has since issued an apology to People Magazine.

Here's how my company (Courtroom View Network) comes in. The tape in question was a sex tape that Hogan made with the wife of Bubba the Love Sponge, a Howard Stern cohort. Supposedly, Hulk and Mrs. Bubba got together with Bubba's full approval and the event was filmed. However, someone, apparently Mrs. Bubba, leaked the tape to Gawker, which published it online. Hogan sued Gawker for a ton of money.

The case was scheduled to go to trial right after the Fourth of July, and we were going to televise it. This figured to be one of our most in-demand trials. However, Gawker won a continuance at the last minute on a technicality and the case was to be rescheduled for October. Now, with this news coming out, Hogan's bargaining position is much worse than before. It appears that someone leaked the audio of Hogan's racial comments (which weren't previously revealed by Gawker but were sealed in the courtroom files). So, it doesn't look like we'll be televising the case any time soon.
