I'm surprised to learn that "The Thrill Is Gone" was King's third Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. I didn't know much about him until I heard the song in heavy rotation on Louisville Top 40 stations. I was pretty blown away at the time and knew I was hearing something special.
