A56. PULP FICTION (Quentin Tarantino) + B33. ANTONIO BANDERAS + C109. SALMA HAYEK = Desperado

Guess who that leaves us with?

B44. I don't know if there were any lions or bears in the jungle, but at least one vicious animal was enough to convince this actor that he should never get out of the boat. - If he caught the animal, I doubt he would try to boil its meat. - I'll give the person who figures it out a rose. - Key film alphabetically between Hair and Hancock.

And...

B109. CHRISTOPHER LEE
C96. PETER CUSHING

I must be missing a director somewhere because I looked through every Cushing/Lee film with a title alphabetically between The Hottest State and The Player, and didn't find any of our 75 directors. Not even Roger Corman, and you would think that a Cushing/Lee film would have been in his wheelhouse. I guess Cushing and Lee were smart enough not to appear in any of Corman's crap. :P
Jonathan Lynn had a bit part in The House That Dripped Blood, with Cushing and Lee, so:

A37 MY COUSIN VINNY (Jonathan Lynn) + B109 Christopher Lee + C96 Peter Cushing = The House that Dripped Blood.

And we are complete - congratulations!

A couple of notes. I could have called this the John Landis game - he easily used more directors then anyone I know in his various films - and not just in 'into The Night' - I'm not sure how he got certain folks to show up in 'The Stupids', for example.

The name of the game came from the fact that so many directors show up in each other films - director A is in director B's film and the B shows up in a film by A.

A few I left out (yes, Virginia, the quiz could have been substanially bigger). Any director that was a major actor first (Redford, Howard, Eastwood, etc.) Director/Actors - that is directors who played major roles in the marjority of their films (Woody Allen, Mel Brooks, Orson Wells, etc.) Also, I tried to avoid using a director if they appeared as themselves - so Cecil B. DeMille didn't show up for Sunset Blvd.

There was also what I call the John Huston / Paul Mazursky / Ellane May problem. Directors who had quite a number of acting roles. It was a judgement call, but I felt if I put in John Huston, that there were just too many films where he shows up and isn't the director - so he didn't make the cut - where as Paul Mazurky was a bit more managable and May was there because Mike Nichols made the game, and I didn't want to split them up.

A few should have been in the quiz but I just missed them, e.g. Todd Solondz. I also almost included Raoul Walsh - as well (He was a key in Frank's previous game).

I figured that Erich Von Stoheim would be the key and almost pulled him from the quiz.

I had a handful of others that I pulled at the last minute - thus messing up some of the ordering, for a variety of reasons. On was Sergieo Leone who had an 'uncreditted' credit in Bycycle Theives - because I had the impression it might be a faulty credit.

I know it was a big quiz and it was interesting how many additional matches worked with the elements I had, but I missed. I hope everyone who played enjoyed it.

I kept on getting excited whenever I saw John Huston in a cast, only to remember he wasn't on List A.

If you had, we might still be trying to figure this out!

Bicycle Thieves itself could have been on List A. Vittorio de Sica made quite a few movies as an actor.

Frogman, I REALLY enjoyed this quiz, even though I didn't post much until the end. That's because my command of films is getting foggier every year, and I find myself relying on imdb overly much, and I don't want to ruin the game by looking things up that people might be able to contribute from memory.

Watching Frank and Melly chew off huge hunks of this thing was impressive, and the sheer scope and size was something to marvel at.

Thank you. I've written a couple of games, so I know how much effort goes into something that massive. (All right, Carell, no TWSS jokes.)

I didn't get to play as much as I thought I would.

But, Frank and Fireball, I bow to you guys.

I had fun with it.

I don't think we could have finished this puzzle without IMDB. I certainly wasn't relying on memory these last few days!
