Lyrically Speaking - 2/5/15

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Thu Feb 05, 2015 7:41 am

Just to show you how completely unprepared I am for LS this year, not only did I just come up with this game yesterday morning, but I have no good Merry Man to post it with. So this Theme Thursday, you are on your own. But the theme isn't really that difficult, and I think the scores for this game will be somewhat better than they have been for the others this week...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme...

1. Goodbye everybody
I`ve got to go
Gotta leave you all behind
And face the truth

2. Next day's function, high class luncheon.
Food is served, and you're stone could munchin'.
Music comes on, people start to dance,
But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants

3. They print my message in the Saturday Sun
I had to tell them I ain't second to none
And I told about equality
And it's true either you're wrong or you're right

4. I must have been through about a million girls
I'd love 'em then I'd leave 'em alone
I didn't care how much they cried, no, sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone

5. Time goes by
And goes so slow, oh, yeah
It just doesn't seem true
Only just a few days ago
You said you'd love me
Never make me blue

6. Life's too short to make a mistake
Let's think of each other and hesitate
Young and impatient, we may be
There's no need to act foolishly

7. Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands

8. After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed

9. Darkness all around me
Blocking out the sun
Oh, friends call me
But I just don't feel like talking to anyone

10. I have stood here before
Inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles
Running round my brain

11. You can look at it
As long as you don't grab it
If you don't go bragging
I'mma let you have it

12. Get Thai'd
You're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's
Among the purest

Theme?

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me an appropriate image.

I had to tell them I ain't second to none
And I told about equality
And it's true either you're wrong or you're right

Black or White -- Michael Jackson

4. I must have been through about a million girls
I'd love 'em then I'd leave 'em alone
I didn't care how much they cried, no, sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone

5. Time goes by
And goes so slow, oh, yeah
It just doesn't seem true
Only just a few days ago
You said you'd love me
Never make me blue

6. Life's too short to make a mistake
Let's think of each other and hesitate
Young and impatient, we may be
There's no need to act foolishly

Give me Just a Little More Time -- Chairmen of the Board

7. Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands

8. After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed

Horse with no Name -- America

9. Darkness all around me
Blocking out the sun
Oh, friends call me
But I just don't feel like talking to anyone

Imagination -- Gladys Knight and the Pips

10. I have stood here before
Inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles
Running round my brain

King of Pain -- Police

11. You can look at it
As long as you don't grab it
If you don't go bragging
I'mma let you have it

Just to show you how completely unprepared I am for LS this year, not only did I just come up with this game yesterday morning, but I have no good Merry Man to post it with. So this Theme Thursday, you are on your own. But the theme isn't really that difficult, and I think the scores for this game will be somewhat better than they have been for the others this week...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme...

1. Goodbye everybody
I`ve got to go
Gotta leave you all behind
And face the truth

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

I'd love 'em then I'd leave 'em alone

There were no obvious standouts this time around... so I'm going to reward the image that, while simple, I actually thought was most in line with how LS themes usually work... it had nothing at all to do with chess itself, but contained one little chess reference that stood out. Earendel gets the 5 point IBB for Paladin's card!

JJC Points:

ear gets a JJC point that I was already prepared to give him even before he got the bonus...

Panic gets a JJC point for waxing the bishop...

frank gets a JJC point for When I'm Sixty Four (Yes, someone else used it later, but first is first), which I wish I'd have thought to use...

TBone gets 2 JJC points for Crosby Stills Nash and Spassky, and for the musical knowledge I gained. I had no idea Elvin Bishop didn't actually sing "Fooled Around and Fell In Love." Then again, I didn't realize Carlos Santana had a bunch of guys singing for him until after "Smooth" came out...

Krox gets a supermax for Wilt, Pete and Dirk...

Beebs gets a supermax for all her funnies, especially Bill Clinton & the Dicks...

mrk gets 3 JJC points for a disturbing trend...

melly gets a JJC point for making us smarter...

Points:

ear 24+1+5
Panic 15+1
Weasel 12
Vandal 20
frank 24+1
jarnon 3
mntetn 8
TBone 32+2
Krox 8+5
Beebs 2+5
Hottie 14
elwood 20
Bob 5
mrk 28+3
Esto 26
