Anyone Can Play -- Last Chance?

#1 Post by TheConfessor » Wed Mar 26, 2008 5:23 pm

They need more contestants, and the show may not be renewed for next season.

========

Time is running out! We will be taping another four editions of our interactive telephone game show, "Anyone Can Play" on Thursday, April 3 and on Tuesday, April 8. Show times will be 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. PDT. If you've played already, were not successful, and it's been more than four weeks since your show aired, you are eligible to be a "standby" contestant again. Please e-mail us at comments@shokusradio.com, and in the subject heading type "Available for Standby in April". In the body of the message, please provide your name, telephone number, and your availability. If you haven't played yet and are registered, we will be contacting you immediately in a separate e-mail to participate. After these April dates, there will only be three additional tape dates in May and then the season (and very possibly the entire series) will be concluded. Don't delay - play now!

Maddie really wants to play, but her Mock Trial season won't end and practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I already had to cancel for her once so I don't want to make a commitment for her until she is done for the season.

LOL - if you have to ask, you don't want to play.

something like that - It was $35 at one time, I think - not sure. No one here ever played for the prize, so it was never really talked about.

It was fun when one BB played against another. Especially because no one knew until the very end.

Originally, it was $10 for winning in the first round and then an additional $25 for winning in the finals on a particular show. Losers in the first round as well as the loser in the finals got a DVD from the Shokus collection. I won when I was originally on and received a check for $35 within a few days of playing (that game was aired live, but later ones were tape delayed).

I then got called back to play in a Champions Show. I won in the first round and then was runner-up to SakeoftheSong. I received a few things from them: a Price is Right game and a DVD of classic TV game shows. The Price is Right game is still unopened but the DVD was actually very interesting. It had four games on it: an episode of What's My Line from the 60s (which was fun to watch), a similarly-aged episode of The Price is Right (which I've never watched), a late 60s game of Concentration from the equivalent of their Tournament of Champions, and an episode of 21 from the 50s. That last was by far the most interesting as it featured returning champion Herb Stempel tying, then losing to challenger Charles van Doren.

Shokus specializes in DVDs of classic TV shows with some focus on game shows.

When Jeff won he got some board and DVDgames. They were nice games, including Match Game, which is one of the girls' favorite shows.
