I have the Nuclear Science Merit Badge
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

It looked like Robin's father was wearing a yarmulke; if so it makes it a little easier to understand why he might not have known about Christian martyrs or MLK Jr.'s conections to the church.

When I was a scout there was a merit badge for "atomic energy" and I earned it. I'm guessing "nuclear science" is the successor to that badge. As for the others, I wouldn't associate the Scouts with shotguns, and I remember being taught not to throw that wonderful Boy Scout knife. Since I can't be certain and I don't think the audience is likely to know it, I'll JTQ.
