It's just another way to get information about the book out to the public. It may not be the most effective method, but no more "wrong" than billboards for TV shows or websites or print ads for music releases.
My other publisher does not think they are worth it, so no Haney Field trailer was considered.

Decent, though some of the slides are beyond mysterious (to me, anyway, who hasn't yet read the book). But the music they put behind it is way too loud. Even with my speaker level set a hair above "off", it was at normal hearing level.
