August Lyrically Speaking Day 12 – Tough Tuesday
Welcome back to Tough Tuesday. We’re going to change the rules a little bit, inspired by the difficulty of last week’s game. This week, you should identify as many titles and artists as you can, and as usual, you will receive one point for each one correct. You MAY, if you wish, take a guess at the theme, as well. After all, there is no penalty, so why not? That phase of the game will remain open for 24 hours. On Wednesday, at approximately 6 AM Central time, you may look at the other folks’ answers. You can’t change yours, but you can use the others’ answers to see if it helps you get the theme. If you get the theme right on the first day, the bonus will be ten points. If you get it right on the second day, it will be 5 points. Also, once you figure out the theme, a krox bonus will be in effect for two additional points if you can come up with a song (or two) that fit the theme.
Good luck!
1. Do you remember when we met?
Oh, that's the day I knew you were my pet
I wanna tell you, oh, how much I love you
SEA OF Love – Honeydrippers or Phil Phillips
2. Been wound up tighter than a banjo string
Price of gas groceries and all those things
They sound little till you add 'em all up
Then you really feel the crunch.
Man, I've had enough.
CHILL – Blake Shelton
3. Ever since our voyage of love began
your touch has thrilled me like the rush of the wind
and your arms have held me safe from a rolling sea
there's always been a quiet place to harbor you and me
Rock the BOAT – Hues Corporation
4. Slowly, gently
night unfurls its splendour.
Grasp it, sense it -
tremulous and tender
MUSIC of the night – Michael Crawford
5. And so I'd dream a bass will join me,
and fill the bottom in.
And maybe now some lead guitar
so it would not sound so thin.
I need some drums to set the beat
and help me keep in time.
And way back in the distance,
some strings would sound so fine.
SIX STRING Orchestra – Harry Chapin
6. We had the right love
At the wrong time
Guess I always knew inside
I wouldn't have you for a long time
SOMEWHERE down the Road – Barry Manilow
7. Well, the Bell hop's tears keep flowin',
and the desk clerk's dressed in black.
Well they been so long on lonely street
They ain't ever gonna look back.
HEARTBREAK Hotel – Elvis Presley
8. Up every mornin' just to keep a job
I gotta fight my way through the hustlin' mob
Sounds of the city poundin' in my brain
While another day goes down the drain
FIVE O’CLOCK World – Dave Clark Five
9. Man thinks 'cause he rules the earth he can do with it as he please
And if things don't change soon, he will
Oh, man has invented his doom
First step was touching the moon.
LICENSE TO Kill – Bob Dylan
10. I used to like to go to work but they shut it down
I got a right to go to work but there's no work here to be found
Yes and they say we're gonna have to pay what's owed
We're gonna have to reap from some seed that's been sowed
TELEGRAPH Road – Dire Straits
11. Move your body don't you stop come on girl drop it hot
We are gonna make this party high we are gonna set the flow on fire
Keep moving don't you stop keep doing it till the sun light
Lick your lips they come a little closer lick your lips they come a little closer
Give me a kiss we party till it is over baby
DRINKS on me -- LMFAO
12. Whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, ain't there nothin' you can take
I say, whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, to relieve your bellyache
You say, well, whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, ain't there nothing I can take
I say, whoo-whoo, to relieve your bellyache
COCONUT – Harry Nilsson
