Lyrically Speaking August 2014, Day 2: Tough Tuesday

*Note* Day 1’s game is going to remain open until around noon Central time, thanks to some craziness in my schedule for today.

Some of the games I wrote for this month of LS are tougher than others, either because the songs are more obscure or the theme is harder to figure out, or both. I decided to put them all on Tuesdays, so they’ll be a little better spaced out, at least. Today’s is, I think, at least a variation on a theme I’ve seen before in someone’s LS game, if not downright stolen. First, identify the 12 songs in today’s game, 1 point for title and one for artist. Then, see if you can match them up into six pairs based on an overall theme. You’ll get two more points for each pair that is correctly matched, and 5 points for the theme. I’ll also give a krox bonus of 5 points if you can come up with another pair of songs that fulfill the terms of the theme.

Some of the games I wrote for this month of LS are tougher than others, either because the songs are more obscure or the theme is harder to figure out, or both. I decided to put them all on Tuesdays, so they’ll be a little better spaced out, at least. Today’s is, I think, at least a variation on a theme I’ve seen before in someone’s LS game, if not downright stolen. First, identify the 12 songs in today’s game, 1 point for title and one for artist. Then, see if you can match them up into six pairs based on an overall theme. You’ll get two more points for each pair that is correctly matched, and 5 points for the theme. I’ll also give a krox bonus of 5 points if you can come up with another pair of songs that fulfill the terms of the theme.

Theme: The group in one pair chose their name from a song from the other in the pair. The Talking Heads did Radio Head; Wings did Jet; Kiss did Firehouse; New Edition did Boys to Men; Queen did Radio Gaga; and Bob Dylan did a song called The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest. Since I just used Wikipedia as the source for saying the groups actually chose their names because of the songs, I’m going to give full credit to those who said one group did a song with the name of the other group. I once again underestimated our players, because I didn’t think anyone would get this one, let alone multiple people. Good work!
