Missouri Alone in Resisting Prescription Drug Database
With drug dealers from neighboring states flocking to Missouri, law enforcement officers like Richard Logan of Sikeston, a pharmacist and sheriff's deputy, cope as best they can:
If a customer tries to fill a clearly illicit prescription in Mr. Logan’s own pharmacy, he has been known to jump from behind the counter and arrest that person on the spot.
State Senator Dr. Rob Schaaf has blocked legislation to create a prescription drug database. He thinks it's an issue of privacy and also public health:
If they overdose and kill themselves, it just removes them from the gene pool.

I'm not sure if they still are but they used to be the #1 meth manufacturing state too.

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

The complaint for the search warrant "describes wholly innocent conduct," the judge said, but he still found it to be legit.
