Acclaimed Hollywood screenwriter of the 1970s and 80s, who is better known for helping create the campy 60s Batman TV series. Batman producer Bill Dozier was having difficulty finding the right angle for the series and went to Semple for help. Semple came up for the idea of playing Batman as a naïve do-gooder. Semple himself wrote about a dozen episodes of the series and served as story editor for the rest. His movies included some of the best known of the 70s, including The Parallax View, Three Days of the Condor, Papillon, and the Sean Connery Bond return film, Never Say Never Again. He's also known for some of the best camp/cult films of the era as well, including the Jessica Lange King Kong, Flash Gordon, and his last feature film, Sheena.
Age 91.
