Valentine win for the hardware family!

#1 Post by mikehardware » Thu Feb 13, 2014 6:59 pm

For Valentine's Day, our alumni website held a "Golden Eagle Lovebirds" contest, for stories about falling in love while at Tennessee Tech University. I wrote up my side of our first date, and it won!

We win some gift certificates for dinner and a movie, but the best part for me is sharing my goofy story with everyone because mrshardware is so wonderful. I hope you enjoy it! (It's also the first time I've won anything for good writing.)

A really nice story.

Congrats.

Congratulations, on both.

The professor gave his tests first thing Monday mornings. Every Friday, I'd pack my textbook to take along to study, but I just never got around to looking at it all weekend, all summer long. Guess I was busy studying more important subjects. Fortunately, the professor gave additional tests, so you could eventually get enough points to pass. I was a regular at those sessions.

Oh, the first time I went to her home (very rural Tennessee) when I pulled up there were two very large hunting dogs barking their lungs out at this strange car in their yard. Kay had never mentioned any dogs, so I assumed they were cool. I just walked in the house and the very first thing her mother said to me was a very surprised sounding, "The dogs didn't bite you?" I guess I passed that test.
