Damn Kids Broke my Google

#1 Post by Spock » Tue Jan 07, 2014 11:22 am

They must have played a game or something on my computer because my view and everything has changed. At Google as soon as start typing I can not see the text box anymore-it appears to be above what I can see.

My toolbars are gone-I have to right click up in the top right to see them. Netflix is all goofy-I don't like it-any thoughts on how to go back to normal.

Can't tell for sure, but it sounds like maybe the display settings have been changed. Try right-clicking anywhere on your desktop that doesn't have an icon, then looking for something called "display settings." Unfortunately, Microsoft has changed what they call this process with nearly every update of Windows, so I can't tell you much more than that without knowing a lot more about your computer.

If all else fails, you can return to a restore point before your system was changed. On my computer, it's under "Accessories," then "System tools,", then "System Restore." Be careful, though -- if you do that, any software you've installed since the restore point you pick will have to be reinstalled.

Thanks-System Restore seemed to work.

Separate issue-is anybody else's Netflix different-mine comes up in a very spare black and white format. I am a little worried that it is a Phishing attempt-may not be the right term-but Trojan Horse maybe.

Mine comes up fine and colorful.

I did learn (from a comic strip, believe it or not!) that Microsoft Silverlight is apparently required for Netflix to work properly on your computer. Since this is not a "required" update, your system wouldn't necessarily prompt you for it. Try going to Windows update and see if Silverlight needs an update, or even to be installed in the first place.
