The rain has stopped, and the sun will make an appearance today, so we've been told.
Tonight our church holds its traditional Maundy Thursday service, commemorating Jesus' last meal with his disciples. FTR "Maundy" comes from the Latin mandamus or "commandment". Our church has communion but also does hand-washing. We substitute this for the footwashing that is normally a part of the service because in the modern era it's the hands that get dirty, not so much the feet.
Entering into the worship space we have a display of elements related to the supper and the crucifixion, including a pouch with thirty pieces of silver, the price that was paid to the betrayer. Among the coins are two quarters, placed there by one of our senior members who apparently didn't understand the symbolism. Yet in putting his own money in the pile he gave us another symbol - a reminder that all of us, in our own way, are responsible for what occurred on Good Friday. I get a little misty every time I see those coins.

I don't get (nor do I really want to get) the religious stuff in your post. What I do get and what I do love is how you can see some guy's not understanding, not as a bad thing - but you can see it in a light that has you feel closer to what is important to you and have the guy that made a mistake, a guy that was ignorant of things, be a contribution to you and to your faith.
You didn't complain about him or try to fix him or try to change him - you appreciated him and had him be a contribution to you.
That is rare in this world.
