Observations Backlog 620 - Discriminate

This observation is quoted with our thanks to Wintergreen48 from a post of December 31, 2011.

In the 1990s, this ran into problems with the federal courts because it was held to discriminate against federal pensioners, who did have to pay state income tax on their federal pensions, even though all the same arguments for tax-free-ness applied equally there.
