Observations Backlog 617 - Cerulean

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:30 am

These days when I'm asked my favorite color, I say teal because it is so appealing to me and enjoyable to look at, but in a much earlier age when I would say blue, I didn't really mean blue, I meant cerulean, that gorgeous color of Colorado skies and lakes that can make you dizzy with its loveliness.

In The Devil Wears Prada, there's this wonderful scene where Meryl Streep's character goes on and on about a cerulean sweater Anne Hathaway's character is wearing. When I google-imaged it, this caught my eye:

I love it! I must have it!

Knitwear is a new genre for Eudon Choi and his Russian-inspired, technical fabrics put him firmly on the fashion map.
The full-skirted sixties look is all the rage this season and this cerulean curly bouclé version is a must-have.
Give it a modern spin with a white tee and statement necklace.

Here's Meryl Streep in that wonderful scene:

"This...stuff? Oh, so you think this has nothing to do with you? You...you, go to your closet and pick out, let's say that lumpy blue sweater because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know that that blue is not just blue, it's not turquoise or lapis, it is in fact cerulean. You are also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent, wasn't it, who did cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled down into some tragic Casual Corner where you no doubt fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry, when, in fact you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you from the people in this very room. From a pile of...stuff."

LOL! I knew it! In two seconds, I'm being deluged with images from Avenue32. This is very worthwhile, however. This cream silk bows blouse will go perfectly with my beautiful new $825 skirt:

A mere $3,080.

$825 for a strange-looking sweater that doesn't even have sleeves? That's insane!
