CSLS 11/21:Pastor Fireball edition

#1 Post by ShamelessWeasel » Thu Nov 21, 2013 7:50 am

Today's game come from Pastor Fireball. Pastor will get the high score for the day. Take it away Pastor:

In today's game, I'm taking everybody on a trip to Out-of-Context Theater.

Below are the lyrics to ten songs, one from each of the last ten decades (including the current one). But I've deleted certain words from the lyrics, leaving your minds to fill in the blanks. Of course, your minds will want to fill in something humorous and/or naughty. You'll have to look past those desires and decipher the real lyrics. You're not required to type in the correct missing lyrics. You can if you want, but you won't get any bonus points for it.

As a hint, each song includes the year in which it was first recorded.

1 point per title, 1 point per artist, and a 2-point bonus at the bottom.

(Weasel:I will add up to 3 point for humorous fill in's)

1. (1926)
_____ing everywhere, haven't found _____ yet
He's the big _____ I cannot forget
Only _____ I ever think of with regret
I'd like to add his initial to my monogram
Tell me, where is the _____ for this _____ _____?

2. (1935)
It's a _____ _____ to the _____y shop
Where bon-bons _____
On the _____y beach of Peppermint Bay

3. (1941)
And all the time you knew it
I guess you always _____ it
You made me _____y sometimes
You made me _____
But there were times, dear
You made me feel _____ _____

4. (1957)
I stop to see a _____ing _____
_____ing on his pillow
Maybe he's _____ing for me
And as the skies turn _____y
Night winds whisper to me
I'm lonesome as I can be

5. (1966)
Now the dark _____s are gone
And the bright _____s are here
My _____y one _____s so sincere
_____y, one so true, I _____ you

6. (1976)
And it's sure been a _____y time
Right up to the time I _____ you
So if you take a _____ like mine
Ooh, be tender with my _____
You know how easy it is to _____ me

7. (1982)
Are you gonna _____ with the one who _____s you
Or are you _____ing _____ to the one you _____
Someone's gonna _____ when they learn they've lost you
Someone's gonna _____ the _____s above

8. (1994)
Don't be ashamed to _____
Let me see you _____
'Cause I've seen the _____ _____, too
When the _____ falls on you
You don't know what to do
Nothing you confess could make me _____ you less

9. (2005)
She saw both their _____s flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to _____
She was so scared
She threw her _____s up in the air

10. (2013 -- this song title also describes today's game)
OK, now, he was _____
Tried to domesticate you
But you're an _____
Baby, it's in your nature
Just let me _____ you (hey, hey, hey)
You don't _____ no _____ (hey, hey, hey)
That _____ is not your _____

Bonus: Speaking of music and unnecessary censorship, this rock song (which had a memorable video featuring sumo wrestlers) had its title inconsistently censored, as the title was never censored when sung in its lyrics. For 2 points, name both the song and the band.

Since this was my contribution for this month's LS, I think that I should have veto power over the bonus points, just as Marley did with his game on Monday.

Frank should get one bonus point for being the first to bring up Judy Garland's version of "You Made Me Love You", which pre-dated even the Harry James recording that I had written down by 4 years.

And since nobody went for bonus points on either the creative blank-filling or the last question, all 9 of yesterday's players should get one bonus point just for not cowardly ducking out of this round.

So that's Frank +2 and mntetn, Vandal, BackInTex, elwood, T_Bone, krox, Marley, and melly +1.
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

"In times of crisis, the wise build bridges. The foolish build barriers." --Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020)

Here's an even earlier version, from 1913:

I missed this game, but if I had played, I would have got just 5 points (plus 1 bonus).
