elwing is usually the most patient of people but even she said, "Can the palaver and get on with the show" (or words to that effect).

Even after the William the Conqueror question I doubt we will get a question about the original form of John "Black Jack" Pershing's nickname.

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Was there any banter with this question? Rich in the GR told us about not to over think questions and mentioned something about Paula Deen seeing "irony" and thinking the answer had to do with an iron.

Ironically (see what I did there? :D ) this was probably the question with the least banter from Paula. As broadcast, she immediately jumped the question. It wouldn't surprise me to find that chatter had been edited out, though.
