RIP Jeff Healy

#1 Post by NellyLunatic1980 » Mon Mar 03, 2008 5:00 am

Lead singer/guitarist of the Jeff Healy Band, who had a big hit in the late 1980s with the song "Angel Eyes".

He died of cancer at the age of only 41.

He's the blind guy who plays the guitar flat like a lap steel, right? I just saw him a week or so ago, I can't remember what it is, something with a lot of guitar players jamming and I kept trying to remember what his name was. I could only think of Jeff Buckley, which of course wasn't right. I'm sad that they now have one more thing in common.

Wow, I remember going to see him play in Toronto, many many many moons ago.

Jeff Healy and the Downchilde Blues Band were regular entertainment at my watering hole, the Wheat Sheaf Tavern.

Any chance that the Charles Fox Singers could sing "Angel Eyes" for us in tribute to Mr. Healy?

One of the things I really enjoyed about the movie Road House (and the reason I got the soundtrack), was his music.
