Long odds

#1 Post by gsabc » Wed Feb 06, 2008 11:51 am

Just checked lottery numbers for my standard MegaMillions set. For at least the nine drawings prior to the latest one, I did not match a single number. NOT ONE! My typical luck, but I did wonder what the odds were. Probably shorter than I think, but, I hope, longer than my chances to get on WWTBAM.

There is a Keno-style game here that actually pays something for matching zero numbers. The odds are actually longer than for matching one or two of the chosen set.

Doncha just love statistics? "Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is intriguing, but what they conceal is vital."
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Don't waste your money on Mega Millions. I am going to win it on Friday. :)

Can I at least reduce your jackpot by the $250K second prize, so I can be comfortable paying for this wedding? :P

Musta been Friday night that two 250K winners were from the same store near Chicago (of course). Both were QPs.

That's fine. You are welcome to second place. :)

I don't know if you know this, but in California 2nd place isn't 250K. It's sort of a revolving jackpot that depends on how many tickets were purchased and the number of other winners.

Last night the 2nd place prize was around $130,000.

Is there a problem with Quick Pick's random number generator?

At least two people don't think there was a problem. :o

Unless the same person got both tickets!
