But I try to be as correct as possible -- otherwise the nitpickers come out, with their frumious claws. The NA marsupial is an opossum. The Aussie kind is just possum.

Sez who?? Back home we called 'em "possums" and that's what I hear them called here in Kentucky. Anyone who says "opossum" is just puttin' on airs.

I dunno, but I call them far worse things when I find them by my trash cans. Funny about the Pogo connection- it was a question about Pogo that got me into the Hot Seat at Play It! for the last time. BAM and possums seem to just go together for me.
