A. California. This case's particulars are an extremely interesting read. I recommend it to people who like history of any kind.

I only know Archy and Mehitabel. They are, repectively, a cockroach and a cat. To the best of my knowledge (such as it is), neither ever took a case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
