Stow, OH
unemployed stand-up comedian

Chris said that before he came out yesterday he felt like throwing up. Meredith asks how he's feeling now and he replies, "Better." But he's not feeling comfortable about the game, nor about his game play. But he's still in it. He's banked $33,500 but has no lifelines left.

Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of the ultra-rational Sherlock Holmes, also wrote a much-criticized 1922 book defending the existence of what?
A - unicorns
B - mermaids
C - zombies
D - fairies

Chris says that so far he's been really conservative but he's a nerd and he's pretty sure he knows this. He's feeling it in his gut. If he misses he'll be crying all the way home. He sinks behind the Hot Podium as he gives his final answer; Meredith says, "Nooooooo" but it's a fakeout.

A - Vesuvius
B - Etna
C - Pinatubo

Chris does a little dance as Meredith reads the question. "Wow! This is awewome!" The audience erupts with cheers and applause but Chris says, "Don't clap until I answer this. I didn't get [unintelligible]."

Chris is unemployed and wants to be a stand-up comedian but times are tough, Meredith notes. He could surely use the money in his bank. That's his to keep as it's time to play "Classic Millionaire".

CLASSIC MILLIONAIRE

$100K - In 2009, when gold reached $1,000 an ounce, a 150-pound man who was "worth his weight in gold" was worth how much?
A - $24,000
B - $240,000
C - $2.4 million
D - $24 million

Chris asks if he's allowed to use pen and paper on the show. Meredith says no, but he can talk it out. "If I don't get this one I'm going to be really mad at myself," Chris says.
Spoiler
"There's 16 ounces in a pound, so 16...maybe I'm wrong...16000 times 10 is 160,000, times 10 is 1.6 million...half of 6 is 8."
On the big screen they show Chris's girlfriend as he agonizes over the question. He finally makes

Chris has an idea what the answer but the $100,000 looks pretty good. Meredith asks what he thinks. Chris doesn't want to say. Meredith tells him that he doesn't have to say "final answer" but she'd like to know his thoughts. Chris says that Meredith tricked him on the fairies question. He says that he thinks it's

Not only a straightforward math question, but, as already discussed, the question writers got it wrong!

I can understand why Chris was chosen as a contestant - he has "personality" and was very expressive. Not that that's a good thing, mind you.

When he said "half of 6 is 8" I thought he was going to end up blowing it. As for the "troy" vs. "avoirdupois" weight measurement, I'll let that go.

My first thought was that it was a Scandanavian country, and since Sweden was the only one up there, I might have gone with that. However I still have two JTQs, so I might use one here.

Here's an article about Chris's appearance. It repeats much of the backstory about his auditioning, which was already explained in the previous article.

If anyone's interested in listening to his own humor:
Clem, along with his co-host Kirk Robinson, does a comedy podcast at prettyswellguys.com and plans to upload a new episode soon about his trip to New York and his feelings about the show.
