Q11: "Sound and Fury" was I believe earlier than 1936. "To Kill" is definitely later than 36. I never read "Old Man" but I did read "Of Mice and Men" and knowing the time period of the book I probably would have pulled the trigger.

I'd be in the same position.

Hmmm...trying to hear the lyrics in my head...Waimea Bay, yes; Haggerty's, yes; Redondo Beach, yes. So it has to be "Pipeline".

As Beverly pondered the question she noted that Steinbeck had a dog ("Travels with Charley") so she was leaning that direction but couldn't bring herself to pull the trigger. Meredith told her she would have been right, for all the right reasons. As for me, the association of Steinbeck with the dog might have been enough for me to go for it, but with a JTQ still available I might have used it.

I'm afraid that was just a fortunate coincidence. Travels with Charley was about a cross-country trip Steinbeck made in 1960; his poodle, Charlie, wasn't born until 1950.
