Well, at least there was a second-place spike for the right answer, but why did 49% of the audience go for Sylvester? Did they ignore the Latin root completely and decide that a fear of black cats was the most common/recognizable choice?

I found it interesting (particularly considering how it turned out) that Cyndi appeared to be prompting for some feedback from the audience (i.e., clap if you know the answer) and she didn't get any, as far I could hear on the broadcast. That should have been a warning signal.

I would have gotten it only because of a horrible old horror movie called Night of the Lepus in which mutant rabbits terrorize Arizona.

Because of a power outage in the neighborhood my DVR only caught the last 10 minutes of the show so I didn't see Cyndi's performance.

It would have been nice to see the dollar amount.

Interesting bit of trivia - in The Matrix when Neo goes to see the Oracle, a scene from "Night of the Lepus" is seen on a TV screen in the "waiting room".

I don't think there's a name for fear of black cats, but fear of cats is felinophobia, ailurophobia, galeophobia, or gatophobia. Phobias come up so often in trivia contest questions that any frequent player memorizes the list.

In "A Charlie Brown Christmas" Lucy, trying to diagnose Charlie Brown's problem, asks "How about cats? If you're afraid of cats, you have ailurophasia." Which isn't the same thing, of course, but it's how I remember what the fear of cats is.

What? All those centuries of myths about black cats being the familiars of witches and there's not a special "phobia" term for that? Better get working on one! :P

I know these questions come up frequently in trivia, but it's a category that I dislike. They only ask these questions because these long lists exist and it seems to me like people invent words to add to these lists just to prove how clever they are. Are there really significant numbers of people who've been diagnosed with each of these weird phobias? And why were you able to list four different words for the fear of cats? Shouldn't the appropriate psychological associations have standardized on a single term by now, if this phobia was legitimate?

Same here!!!!!!!!!!! I was watching that when Stephen was little and he was fascinated. He was saying; "Uh oh, raddits, oh no!" and I thought it was the funniest thing, so now we call it the Uh Oh Raddits movie. It's so bad it's good.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an English teacher to have a good vocabulary and some familiarity with Greek and Latin roots.
