Never mentioned on the show was the fact that Vik is a Jeopardy! champion who was a finalist in the 2006 Tournament of Champions. They're discussing his SyndieBAM appearance over on the J! board in this thread:

Vik used to live in Austin. He often played in the Wednesday pub quiz at B. D. Riley's. On the show, he was listed as being from Houston, but he recently told me that he's doing his residency in Florida. I think he's in Miami.

If TPTB didn't want to discuss Vik's J! experience, I wonder what hook got him on the show? Surely not paying bills and traveling, which are two of the biggest sleep-inducing lines the APs have ever heard.

Easy if you know Reagan's middle name was Wilson.

Second penny question in as many days.

Didn't know about the first commercial, but I've heard the slogan.

I'm surprised that a Jeopardy TOC finalist wouldn't know the Bulova Time question.

I was certainly more confident about that one than the last one (about which I was not confident at all).

So if he had walked he would have 68K? I still haven't quite caught up with the rules of this new game that vaguely resembles WWTBAM.

Whereas guessing incorrectly, as he did, dropped him down to $25K. There are no "free guesses" any more. Those who do better in Round One (by not jumping any questions or by getting lucky in only jumping small value questions) have more at risk in Round Two and more incentive to walk away. OTOH, if they've saved some jumps they get more chances to look at the higher value questions, in the hope that they know one of them.

Also, just as Meredith plays up the full value of the bank and downplays the fact that contestants can only walk away with half of that until they pass the tenth question, she downplayed the drop to $25K until Vik actually did so.

On the Pritchard comedy scale, Green Eggs yeils 5x the humor area as Yertle and 7x as Horton (Yertle is helped by the fact that the name is so funny).

As a parent, Green Eggs is much more fun and humorous to read than Cat in the Hat. In fact, it is my favorite story to read aloud.

I, for one, am happy to see that BAM has started appreciating us Season 22 J! contestants. Now they have to just figure out that us short, balding, dumpy non-doctors can be just as interesting to watch.

Gutsy move that unfortunately didn't pan out. As for me, I'd still have all my lifelines at this point. My first guess was the right answer but at the "Hot Podium" I'd have used ATA and if I didn't get a strong enough indicator, I'd use JTQ.

Little surprised about the Bulova question. But I am also bitter, as Vik's Harvard team defeated my Rhodes team way back in the day for the championship of something-or-another in quiz bowl.
