Desiree Barter
Valley Stream, NY
Desiree's full name and hometown are not mentioned on-air, but they have been revealed on Millionaire's Facebook page.
Meredith: We are almost out of time, so instead of starting a new game, we are going to give one of our audience members a shot at winning $1,000. Today's lucky audience member is Desiree. Desiree, come on out!
We see Desiree already walking down the stairs from the audience section behind Meredith.
Meredith explains how the game works. Desiree will get the next question that the last contestant was about to get before he lost. If she gets it right, Desiree will win $1,000.
What 2009 film shares its title with one of the options you can use on Facebook to describe your relationship status?
A: I Love You, Man B: It's Complicated
C: He's Just Not That Into You D: Up in the Air
Desiree: I am a Facebook fan and I think I know the answer. I think it's B: It's Complicated
B: It's Complicated
Desiree wins $1,000.

Why not give her the actual (randomized) value that the question would have had? That way the 1-question wonder could end up with $25,000 or $100. Wouldn't that make it more exciting?

I wonder if former contestants are eligible? I guess I could check the rules, not that I plan on being in NY any time soon.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I saw Desiree tape yesterday afternoon as an actual contestant.

I'm not surprised. Actually being on-air has got to be worth more points than an ordinary video interview. Plus, Meredith gets to make the "just a few weeks ago" speech about being in the audience.

I wonder if yesterday's scheduling was deliberate? I mean, at the very same time Desiree's initial appearance is airing on WABC, she's back at the Hot Podium for a complete run?
Or sitting in the Green Room, but let's not spoil the scene with too many details.

A couple more tidbits. I sat in the audience for two shows, and one of the shows was a celebrity edition. Also, Ms. Barter's producer came out to hurry her up on one of the questions after only about five minutes.

Was there a theme charity for the celeb edition or was it at each celeb's discretion, this time?

It was a single episode celebrity special which will air this month. I don't know how they came up with the charity that will receive the money.
