I think referring to him as a "Scottish nobleman" as a possible answer is a bit too clever a distractor. Smithson was, in fact, a nobleman of sorts - but he was illegitimate, and denied the noble title he believed was his. So, to spite Britain, he gave a bunch of money to the US. Probably a better form of revenge than "Kind Hearts and Coronets." He wasn't Scottish (best we know, being a bastard), so it's not a bad question, but maybe a tricky one for someone who knew a bit too much for their own good.

Is the term "hair grease" still used? This seems like an awfully convoluted way to ask a question.

I would have thought it was either Stewart or Blackmun. If the 50/50 goes right, I get it. Otherwise it's time to PAF.

A little bit of knowledge of the the Supreme Court and particularly Harry Blackmun makes this question straightforward. Blackmun had been counsel for The Mayo Clinic prior to serving on the SC. His exposure to medical issues was partially responsible for him being assigned to write the opinion in Roe v. Wade. Authoring that opinion was his most significant achievement during his tenure on the SC.

Harry Blackmun and Warren Burger were boyhood friends who grew up in Minnesota together. They were nicknamed "The Minnesota Twins".

BTW, Potter Stewart's most memorable line from one of his opinions was "I know it when I see it" in reference to pornography.

Also, this is exactly the kind of stack that I'd love to get one day. I'd be looking at the $250,000 clue with all 4 lifelines remaining.

16K: I saw a program on the falls within the year. It was a PBS special last winter, I believe. Otherwise I wouldn't recall this.

50K: I knew Smithson was British, but didn't think he was a scientist. So "Scottish nobleman" is a candidate here. On the other hand, I do recall he was not a "nobleman". Back to knowing the answer.

IIRC, they did that at all the road trip auditions, whether you wanted to try out for the movie edition or not!

The attitude of the staff at the Ft. Worth audition seemed to be, "You're here, what else are you going to do?" The movie quiz came first, IIRC.
