This was just painful. A very strong contestant, done in by the worst audience Durst-ing I've ever seen! (And I would've been Durst'ed right along with her)

Presumably the audience just leaned toward the least-fantastic choice, just like I would've.

Well, it was an obscure question about someone who's virtually unknown in the U.S. and who's just a little bit looney. :P

So, where does 82% voting for incorrect answers stand in the record of ATA performances?

I know that Amy Adams was in B and D. I've never heard of C. I've heard of A, but I don't know who was in it. Margaret may not be of much help on the later questions, so I'll throw her a bone and call on her for this question.

No clue on this one. Ask the audience. Seeing their percentages, I don't think I would've risked it on B. Reading animals' minds is not that unusual. There's a guy who does that all the time on his own TV show. More than likely, I would've spent my last lifeline and Double Dipped on C and D.

I don't know if it's a record, but the audience was 88% "wrong" on my glowing potato question.

ATA on the actress Q-never heard of her.

$25K-I never heard of this, either. It may have been a headline story in TOKYO, but not in Kalamazoo! Hmmm, maybe Margaret would know-this sounds like a good subject for a comedy routine.
I'm just a game show nerd.

For 25K: I happened to read this in the "strange news" articles of where I get my news online. I also did an all nighter once to type a paper and had "Red Eye" on and they were making fun of the story when it was new.

I'll note that while the question was correct at the time it was taped. She is now the wife of a former Prime Minister of Japan.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Be sure that Cory understands that once the big-screen TV comes into the living room the hockey games are over.

Time for me to ATA; I wouldn't know either of these actors if I saw them - all I know is that Adams was in "Enchanted".

She's a big believer in UFOs (not surprisingly).
