Meredith was impressed that Bob would know this kind of current pop culture

I missed seeing this while it aired, so perhaps it wouldn't have bothered me in real time. Seeing the words in print, however, Meredith's comment strikes me as more than a little condescending. Why wouldn't he have heard about Adam Lambert during his preparations for the show? All contestants should know that questions like this are coming, including those who are older than Meredith.

That's funny, because I never get lost when I drive during a long trip, but my non-direct trips solely for the purpose of traveling through new counties have come to be known as "Bo-ventures".

I have to thank my father for this one. He worked as a carpenter for over 30 years, and he taught me a lot of words related to carpentry, woodworking, architecture, and the like.

Not only did I know this answer, but I pre-called it. Well, I didn't pre-call the exact answer. I pre-called "spilled acid on himself". I saw a movie about Bell many years ago, and this little tidbit just stuck with me.

So I'm giving the extremely rare "nihil obstat® and going for $500K with all of my lifelines" for this stack. Heck, I can't remember the last time this has happened to me.

But congrats to Bob on having the guts to go for it at $100K.

This was an easy stack for me. The $250K answer I knew from watching an episode of Voyagers! back in the '80's.

This was an easy stack for me. The $250K answer I knew from watching an episode of Voyagers! back in the '80's.

Ah, yes. I remember that show well. One of many great shows that debuted on NBC in 1982, along with Cheers, Fame, St. Elsewhere, Family Ties, Knight Rider, Remington Steele, and Late Night with David Letterman. Sadly, Voyagers! was scheduled opposite 60 Minutes (the #1 show that year) and was canceled after one season. I also remember that reruns of Voyagers! aired during Sci-Fi Channel's very first year of operation. Another great sci-fi show that debuted on NBC in 1982 but was sadly canceled after one season was The Powers of Matthew Star... and those reruns also aired during Sci-Fi's debut year.

Anybody else besides me realize many years later that Quantum Leap, which had a more successful run, was a direct rip-off of Voyagers!?

One more thing: If you want to learn more about Alexander Graham Bell, take a voyage down to your public library. It's all in books! (I just had to throw that in there. )
