Ah, well, at least my story got a plug out of this stack, even if they didn't bother to mention that Gary Oldman played me.

Another contestant done in by a question about food. I would have started with ATA on this one-I think she wasted it on the question which was basically asking what country's capital sounds the most like "Grayjing". I guess she didn't know that Beijing is the capital of China-must have skipped watching the 2008 Olympics.
I'm just a game show nerd.

I noticed while transcribing the topic tree, next up was "On the Menu" making it three food questions among the first seven questions. From the perspective of someone not familiar with "steel cut" oatmeal, trying to get by with a DD of Waffles and Bacon as the only ones with "cuts" involved would have been tempting, especially with the very next question in the same awfully weak area and ATE often being useless.

Far western end of Morris Co., but I think that's close enough to qualify as a WE®.

Never heard of the term "steel cut" before. ATA.

I've heard of steel mixed frozen custard and somewhere I heard of steel cut oatmeal but I don't know if I would have trusted my gut.

I think rice in boiled vodka might be something interesting.

I've never heard this, so I'll ATA and hope. Turns out that "steel cut" refers to the method of preparing the oats - cutting them into pieces rather than crushing them by rolling. Wikipedia says they're also known as "Irish oats".

Definitely still in the WABC viewing area, which meets our general definition of Where Else.

I think nerves and TDC made her unable to make the connection between the clues and Beijing.

I hope all of this week's contestants can read the Q&A on their own and start thinking of the correct answer while tuning out Steve Harvey. His slow and careful pronunciation is using up more time than usual in the first tier.

Here's an article about Danielle's appearance. It basically repeats the quotes from their pre-airing article, with an update on the result.

http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/2010 ... llionaire-
Visicaro, a self-described trivia buff, described her appearance on the show as an "out-of-body-experience."

"It was absolutely nerve-wracking," Visicaro said last week. "You're sitting on this seat in front of a celebrity and audience and you're in a different world."
That's why Play it! was good training, at least for experiencing the audience, if not a real celebrity.
