It's not even a rat. It's a giant rodent. Rodent does not necessarily equal rat.
Jeez. Might as well say it is a giant chipmunk or a giant porcupine. That would be as accurate as giant rat.
I guess giant pacarana, something which more accurately describes it, doesn't have the same ring.
