People probably don't remember this anymore, but two years ago I posted a question about how to get cat pee out of my favorite chair well enough that the cats wouldn't keep smelling it and keep peeing on it. We were catsitting because of another couple (the woman later became our doula) - she was pregnant, and his job was suddenly taking him to DC and India for a week at a time (he found himself a new job, but it took a few months).
From what we read, toxoplasmosis is at worst a mild danger to the mom, but can be very bad for the baby. The risk of the mom contracting it is very low (most women who have cats have already come in contact with it and developed an immunity), but like everything else with the little ones, why take a risk you can easily eliminate?
While I'm at it, I read somewhere a few years ago that there's some disease that causes men to be more likely to be aggressive, get into fights, etc, and women to become more promiscuous, both of which aid in the reproduction of the disease. I wish I remember where I read it, but it was very sensationalist. Turns out the disease they were talking about was toxoplasmosis, though saying this about humans is probably a load of crap. It does seem to cause rats to be unafraid of cats, and in fact to seek them out.

I had a biology teacher somewhere along the line who, in a discussion about genes that are located close to each other, told me that many, or most, or almost all, or something, calico cats were retarded. I had hoped to use this as the question, but I couldn't substantiate it anywhere. Besides, would a retarded cat act appreciatively differently than a regular one?

I sampled 5 different bottles in the supermarket before I wrote this question and they all said (1) Tomatoes and (2) Vinegar. I wouldn't be stunned if either water or sugar occasionally creep into the top 2, but I didn't see it. If you want to present evidence to the contrary, feel free.
