Ouch!

No indication that Sara blurted out the wrong word from a brain fart here. Was she thinking of ginkgo biloba, perhaps? :?

I like how some BBs will think the best of a contestant and create excuses for them.

However, I am guessing that most llamas just really do not know the answer. No brain farts, no clock pressure, just a huge gap in their knowledge.

(I also am not sure anyone under 35 ever would have seen a Ginsu knife infomercial.)

Nope, I've seen in-person demonstrations several time, and there are a ton of clips posted on Youtube. Even if you're not sure, ATE at this level.

I was wondering if she thought of Ginseng even though it's more for energy; when she saw the word ginsu.

That's what I was thinking as well. And not everyone watches infomercials.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I have seen plenty of them. I used to be an insane insomniac. Even though I am posting this late (early depending on your perspective) I am not as bad as I used to be. And I don't spend my up time watching TV anymore as my as I spend it on the net like now.

I wasn't trying to make an excuse for Sara, just trying to understand why she answered as she did and why she didn't reach for a lifeline, if she really had no clue or (misguided) hunch.

But I'm glad you think that I think the best of contestants. Others think I can be kind of negative, you know.

_____

I'm well under 35, but the fact that Ginsu makes knives is common knowledge to me.

Maybe not true for everyone, but I could've answered this one in my sleep ...

Wow! What a week! Twelve contestants combine to win $77,500. And there's enough time to introduce a 13th contestant. Hey you jackasses who are running this show! You still think killing the PAF was a brilliant idea? How are your ratings now?
Appa23 wrote:(I also am not sure anyone under 35 ever would have seen a Ginsu knife infomercial.)
As usual, you are wrong. Not only have I seen Ginsu commercials throughout the 1980s and 1990s, my mother and stepfather actually ordered Ginsu knives. After 19 years, they're still using them.

By the way, how did Mere pronounce Sara's last name?

Three syllables, same as the three words that combine to form her name. The only person I've met with that name is Mark Bytheway, who is one of the most successful game show and quiz contestants in England. He pronounces his name the same way.

Vegematic, by Steve Goodman

Fell asleep last night with the T-V on. Oh, what a dream I had.
I dreamed I answered every single one of those late night mail order ads.
And four to six weeks later, much to my surprise,
The mailman came to my front door, and I couldn't believe my eyes
When he brought the Vegematic, and the Pocket Fisherman too,
Illuminated illustrated history of life,
And Boxcar Willie with a Ginzu knife,
A bamboo steamer, and a Garden Weasel too,
And a tie-dyed, dayglow souvenir shirt from Six Flags Over Burbank.

The doorbell rang all morning and into the afternoon.
I shook with fright as it rang all night to the light of the Master Card moon.
There was Parcel Post in the pantry, and UPS in the hall,
C O D's to the ceiling, and I just couldn't pay for it all.

I got the egg scrambler, with a Seal-a-Meal carrying case,
A set of presidential commemorative plates
So I could eat my eggs off the President's face,
A Minute Mender, and a needle that'll knit or crochet,
And an autographed photograph of Rin Tin Tin at Six Flags Over Burbank.

(same chords as 2nd verse:)

I remembered I was dreaming, so I gave a mighty cheer.
When I awoke, it was no joke, 'cause all that shit was here.
So if you fall asleep with the TV on, let me tell you what to do:
Tear the telephone out of the wall unless you want it to happen to you.
You'll get the Vegematic, and the Pocket Fisherman too,
Illuminated illustrated history of life,
And Boxcar Willie with a Ginzu knife,
A bamboo steamer, and a smokeless ashtray too

And an all expenses paid weekend for three at Six Flags Over Burbank.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

When I saw that The Question Topics are never shown., I figured it meant that this would be a llama. This show is so predictable now...
Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.

Sometimes they skip the question topics during the contestant introduction, but then they'll usually display them after the next commercial break. If the contestant lasts that long...
