NYT Joke of the day

Joke of the Day
A linguistics professor was lecturing to his English class one day. "In English," he said, "A double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative." A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right."

I hope there not passing this off as a new joke. I remember reading and retelling it at least 7 years ago.

There are no new jokes. I think it was Twain who said, "There are but two jokes, and since the mother-in-law is a deplorable condtion, rather than a joke, there is only one."
I am about 25% sure of this.
