House Saga Part 6

#1 Post by peacock2121 » Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:56 am

It didn't take us long to see that we could buy a home in Sun City Center for considerably less money than we could buy one in Punta Gorda. We figured it would be best for us to be in the neighborhood of one of the parental peoples. The cities are only 1 hour and 20 minutes apart, so weekly visits would be very doable.

Getting something we would be comfortable in for the price range we would be comfortable in, it was going to be Sun City Center.

Sting would travel to his mom's each week - leave in the morning, stay the night and the next day and return after the evening meal. That way, he would be there for his mom 2 days a week.

The question then was, how would I get around without a car for 2 days a week?

The answer: A Golf Cart!

One can travel to the grocery store, the doctors, the post office and even to WalMart on a golf cart. I am not kidding. They have golf cart parking spots in all of the parking lots.

We now added a golf cart to our expenses.

We also saw that we could lower our spending limit.

New game - in a house, furnished, having a golf cart and a washer dryer for under $85,000.

Game On!

Do you have a guest room, I like to spend my winters in Florida too! Sometimes New Jersey can be really, really hot, but mostly its too cold for me.

They probably do, but I don't think you can use the golf cart.

The washer dryer is in a closet in the guest quarters area.

So if guests come to visit, they have to do all the laundry! Seems fair! I can just see you tooling around in a golf cart. Too fun!

One of the things we will have to get used to are all of the condo rules.

One of the rules is no four-footers allowed.

Very sad rule.

This is amazing!

Congratulations to the Pea/Sting household.

This is wonderful. I'm delighted at the way things fell into place for you.

I am just catching up on all of the house posts...very exciting!!! I am so happy for you, and happy that the search process seemed to go pretty quickly/easily. I think that's a sign that it's the right decision. And no more cold winters, yay!!!

I am thinking the not so smooth parts will be revealed in saga part 12 or so.

We kept on keeping on - and there was some teeny drama and sadness and annoyance.

It all worked out.

HA! No worries, the dryer is my 'iron'.

I wondered when I read part 6, if the Punta Gorda parents would be upset the Sun City parents 'won.' Keep on keepin' on, Pea. There'll be way more fun and exciting things to do than there will sadness, drama and annoyance. At least til I get there.

lol - I think I'll let you get there, first. Right now my focus, such as it is, is on trying to make it to a family reunion in Atlanta over Memorial Day. It's kinda iffy, at best. Maybe, though.
