The recipients from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are

Army Sgt. 1st Class Paul R. Smith
Navy Lt. Michael Murphy,
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Monsoor
Army Spc. Ross McGinness.
Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

The article says there has been only one female awardee. I wanted to know more, and found this article by the military on Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, a Union surgeon. Her citation does not include language about valor in combat. Her Medal and others was revoked but she refused to return it, and wore it until she died. Her right to wear it was restored years later.

I watched some of the ceremony from Arlington on Fox. The President shook hands with the M O H awardees. I was amazed at how tiny Colonel Jack Jacobs is compared to BHO. I guess it really is the size of the fight in the dog...
