Topic Reply Notification

#1 Post by cindy.wellman » Tue Dec 04, 2007 9:12 pm

I have the default setting on my posts for "Notify me when a reply is posted" I like this feature because I like to follow what is going on with this group. Some days I have oodles of time, and some weeks I'm completely gone, so this option works well for me.

It is interesting to watch just how long it takes for the little email to get to my inbox. I just looked at my email acct, and realized that just received quite a large number of emails with the standard "Topic Reply Notification" subject. All of them are from last Thursday. It would seem that I was quite chatty that night. The timing is odd because I've received updates from other threads, even from ones that I posted to as recent as today, already.

No complaint here, I'm enjoying this.

I am wondering about if there is an option to follow a thread w/o responding to it? I know it is possible on other boards (gasp, others?) but I wasn't sure if our version of this php had that option.

If a message gets posted to a forest in which you haven't responded, does it make a sound?

Topic notification, no thank you! That would make even more email that I ignore because I'll 'get to it later'. I'm so thrilled with yahoo and gmail having such huge storage limits, I have like 10,000 unread emails stacked up (not kidding!).

Okay, I didn't answer your question in the slightest, I just wanted you to get sent another notification email. Ha!

Yeah, I love the huge storage limit for Google and the non-limits storage for Yahoo. It really hit home the other day when I received one of those large mpeg files that was in the 6mb range. It reminded me that when I signed up for Yahoo, I got in under a default of 4 mb of storage. (they later lowered it to 2 mb for the newbies) That is scary to think of now.

You ignore your Inbox?? YOU the queen of organization? I am very tidy w/ my inbox, and have a zillion folders for everyone and everything. I dislike having anything in my inbox that is just sitting there taking up space. If it is in my inbox, it means "something to do". With all the various things I subscribe to, I get a lot of email each day. I get a little antsy when the number of emails in there starts to climb.
