Jeff: Well, then I think, uhh-- Bboy. I gotta tell ya, Joanna, I think I'm only about 70-80% sure about April and the Bay of Pigs, but I seem to remember it being that month. Ummm, if you trust me and want to go for your best chance, I'd take your Double Dip and go for the other two, A or D. That's what I would try.

Jeff: Yeah, I'm hoping I can help you. Like I said, I'm not 100% sure but that's the only one that strikes me as having happened in April.

This question was inadvertently made more timely by the recent collision of one of the Iridium satellites with that Russian one, but that just highlights how unimportant the "active" keyword is, regarding the issue that would worry the Union of Concerned Scientists. There are many times that amount of space junk up there!

It is the reason why "about 1000" was stuck in my head.

I am surprised that neither the contestant or "Expert" remembered that the Berlin Wall fell in November 1989, seeing how it is the most current of the historical events given.

Time for a lifeline - too bad the astrophysicist isn't still available. My first thought was it was 3900. But since I don't know for sure, it's time to use a lifeline. This might be a hard Google but I'd be calling a Google PAF.

I would have been curious to know if he would have gotten it as well. Surprisingly not that hard a google thanks to the recent "space crash" but definitely seems a Gastonia-ish question to me were it not for that crash which makes it more current events. You would have to not only recall the crash but recall the figures being used for totals of satellites. More difficult than a lot of past million dollar questions.

I think you're right. I was shocked when the correct answer had such a landslide vote.

I agree that the Frankenstein aspect is why B got such a large vote from the audience. But, there's another clue which suggests that Mary Shelley was the right answer. Percy Shelley died young, at around age 30. That young death enabled Mary Shelley to keep his heart that way for 30 years.

I think you're right. I was shocked when the correct answer had such a landslide vote.

Are the Q writers getting soft? As the ATA shows, this is an obvious guess and a prime candidate to be dismissed as a distractor, especially with a spike from D. Bronte above the remaining two answers. I think "according to legend'" is a key phrase here. The fact that it may be all made up points towards Shelley. But if I don't pull the trigger before asking the audience, I'm probably burning another LL for verification.

So why do at least 1 in 5 say Bronte? Is it just that they've heard of Bronte and not the others or are they thinking that Bronte seems like a more romantic author than the others and as such would be more inclined to keep her husband's ticker???
