Want to get paid to pretend you're working?...Oh, you do.

(CNN)
If finding a real job evades you, now may be the perfect time to just pretend you have one.

Fake employees, corporate seat-fillers, are reportedly being paid by New York advertising agencies to dress and act like they work in firms so prospective clients visiting the offices will be instilled with confidence.

Sound crazy? Not to Jeremy Redleaf, the 24-year-old founder of Odd Job Nation, a Web site that launched February 24.

"Seriously! I have friends who do this," Redleaf says, before rattling off some of the other "exclusive odd jobs" he's compiling. "We want to be the resource for the new growing army of part-time opportunists ... You've got to hustle life before life hustles you."
I am about 25% sure of this.

This was a question on "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" recently. The player didn't pick it. I forget if they won their 2 out of 3 for the "big prize" or not, but this didn't help them along.

That's where I heard this story.

For the uninitiated, "Wait, Wait..." is NPR's comedy news quiz show. It is simply one of the most entertaining shows in broadcast history.

Bluff the listener is the one game that is all or nothing, picking the real story out of 3 (2 fake ones). The other games that callers play are 2 out of 3.

BTW, my impression that one of the panelists get the correct story but get to make up the 'news article' that they read. The other two get to make up the entire thing on their own, based on the general category. Does anyone know if my impression is correct? It is hard to believe that any new article would read like what is read on the air - for the correct story. Also, since they get points for getting the contestant to pick their story, I don't believe they are written by staff writers, but I could be wrong.

I believe that the panelists write their own fake stories, although I suspect once in a while they ask the show staff for help. There are occasional tip-offs that a story is fake- for instance, Charlie Pierce almost invariably sets his fake story in a small town in Wisconsin.

And, it certainly sounds like the real story once in a while gets re-written by the panelist to fit their speaking/writing style.
I am about 25% sure of this.

No. I do not doubt the veracity of the notebooks.

I was just being gratuitous.

I'm pretty sure that's negatory.
