Time to Rock, Baby!

#1 Post by gsabc » Fri Feb 27, 2009 9:41 am

Well, there's something good out of staying home with broken ribs. I just won tickets to the Elton John/Billy Joel concert on July 18th! Radio station call-in, and I was the correct caller!! WooHoo! They don't even go on sale until tomorrow. Something to look forward to in the summer, that's for sure. Now for the MegaMillions and PowerBall jackpots ...
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

OMG! That is awesome!!! Those tickets sell for a pretty penny, and forget it if you can't get them through normal channels and have to buy through a ticket service. I saw Billy Joel once and he was great, I have never seen Elton John. That will be a good show. See, there is an upside to being home! I hope you didn't scream with excitement when you won, that would probably hurt your ribs!

Congrats on scoring the freebies!!

Elton & Billy will be doing their thing in Tulsa on 3/17, and my concert buddy and I did the line thing for tickets. We'll be in floor seats, front row of the second section back on the right. No tall folks standing up right in front of me!!

I won't spoil any of it for you, but we can compare notes after you see them on 7/18 (which also happens to be my birthday!).

I saw them a few years back in Buffalo. You will DEFINITELY enjoy this show! They come out together, do a few songs together, then one or the other splits while the remaining guy does a full set with his band. When he's through, after a VERY short break, the other guy comes out and does a full set with HIS band. Finally, the two reunite with BOTH bands and do another 7 or 8 tunes. The coolest thing for me is, when they are both on stage, each does a couple of the other one's tunes. For example, Joel may sing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" while Elton sings "Uptown Girl".

If you like both artists, this is a "can't miss" show. You will be treated to about 3 hours of non-stop classics.

Enjoy and congratulations!!

Congrats and sounds like fun - I hope the ribs are mending - I fell last summer and did something similar - it was no fun for 3-4 weeks.
