Had a great four-day weekend full of lots of doings.
1. The "Nerd Herd" returned my computer after their second attempt to fix the problem that I took it in with - the first time they had only done a virus removal, which was not the problem. And they gave us a credit for 1/3 of the original cost to compensate us for not fixing it right. When I got the computer home and hooked it up I found that they had done some serious changes to my setup, including eliminating a lot of desktop icons and the Favorites under Internet Explorer. Moreover they somehow managed to damage my Microsoft Office applications - none of them would start without some error messages. These problems were not insurmountable but were annoying.
2. elwing and I managed to get to the fitness center three days out of the four, and we go back today for our regular biweekly visit.
3. elwing ordered a new bed - our current one hasn't held up well (and it's a replacement for the original that we purchased after the fire) so she decided to make a change. Some time this week we'll be receiving a Sleep Number® bed; elwing has had her eye on one of these for some time. I'm skeptical that it will make much of a difference (I sleep like a log and can sleep under most any circumstances).

I suspect you've found only a small part of the damage the "Nerd Herd" did to your system.

I can handle missing files and such (I backup my system religiously), although it's an annoyance when I encounter one (because they shouldn't have had to delete anything - or should have asked before doing so). I suspect their excuse would be that the files were "corrupt" or "tainted".
