Join me in celebrating the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin. (And also Abraham Lincoln.)

Why does Lincoln get a footnote?

And yesterday was my "half birthday". Let's not forget that. As a child, I only remembered Lincoln's birthday because it was one day after my half birthday. How ridiculous is that?? :shock:

Yes, which is why I didn't neglect to mention him completely. The USA officially remembers him with the Presidents Day holiday on Monday. Meanwhile, today is an international celebration of Darwin Day.

But, by all means, feel free to start your own thread in honor of President Lincoln.

I'm an only child, what do you want? I have no excuse for it! But it worked!! I didn't get presents but there was always cake and festivities...I actually looked forward to it, as though it was a real cause for celebration. I think I abandoned it around the time I went to college. Although I did force someone to say "happy half birthday" to me yesterday, and actually made them feel bad for not saying it on their own. :twisted:

Lol...no! It was a very old friend, I was kidding when I said, "after all these years, how could you miss my half birthday?? aren't you even going to say happy half birthday??" So he said it, and I got a free dinner. But the dinner was at Taco Bell.

Right. I get Monday off for George Washington's Birthday. Presidents' Day is a state holiday in about a dozen states.

Lincoln's Birthday is a state holiday in N.J. and California - and a lot more I'm sure.
