is celebrating Jackson Pollack's birthday. That's not my favorite style of art.

Pollack's paintings don't reproduce well. In person, when you can see the texture of all the different layers of paint, they are rather fascinating. Besides, since he was born in Cody, Wyo., he was nearly one of your neighbors.tlynn78 wrote:is celebrating Jackson Pollack's birthday. That's not my favorite style of art.

Re: Google
I've golfed with Jackson Pollack
in a tournament back in the '50s
he struggled shot after shot
I told him to "grip it and rip it"
he said the course was like a canvas
and his preferred technique was to
"splatter and drip it"

Re: Google
I won't reserve judgment. Never have liked or understood his "art". You would send your kid to their room for making something that looked like one of his paintings on your floor or wall. And how do you know if it's hung up right side up or upside down, or sideways for that matter?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I don't like all of his stuff but I like the one that Google is showing.
Not because of the technique but because I just like looking at it.

There are certain athletic endeavors I am not certain are "sport," though I don't deny the people involved are athletes. A guy at work says if you can drink a beer while you do it, it isn't a sport. So
poker
stock car racing (except maybe road courses)
golf
bowling
spelling bee
billiards/pool
not sports.
ESPN can show whatever they like, as the E stands for Entertainment. But a lot of them are not sports.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Re: Google
Hard to hold a beer in your hand while playing golf. You can hold one in between playing much as you note for baseball or football so it must be a sport! Wouldn't hurt my game much if at all if I held a beer when attempting to swing (except I might spill the beer which after all is alcohol abuse) but for most people it would likely prove to be a hindrance.Ritterskoop wrote:I think he means holding the can in your hand while you play the game.WheresFanny wrote:

In bowling it seems to make no difference if I have a beer in hand or not whilst flinging a ball down the lane so I guess that isn't a sport.

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

It would be extremely difficult to hold a beer in one's hand while driving a Stock Car.
At least it would be extremely difficult to do it for very long.
